Spa symposium to focus on HEALTH TOURISM

SHARON CHAMBERS

THERE ARE several reasons to attend the second staging of the Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Symposium at the Hilton Kingston Hotel on February 12 and 13.

The first relates to the fact that the symposium is being held at the headquarters of the Caribbean Chapters of the International Medical Spa and Day Spa Associations and the Health Tourism Destination of Choice.

"In this venture, we are joined by Aloun Assamba, Minister of Industry and Tourism, who will open the conference and expo, while Dennis Morrison will bring greetings. Representatives from Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) and other Caribbean dignitaries will also be present," said organiser Sharon Chambers.

The launch of the region's Medical Spa and Day Spa Associations Chapters will take place on February 12, during a special reception.

SPEAKERS

Symposium speakers will include Eric Light, president of the International Medical Spa Association who will give the keynote presentation on 'Wellness and Destination Health: Important Trends in the Resort Industry'.

Mr. Light will also tour the island with Hannelore Leavy, founder and worldwide executive director of the International Medical Spa and Day Spa Associations, along with other executive members to learn more about the climate, spa facilities and healing waters.

Alternative medicine specialist and medical journalist, Dr. Tony Vendryes, who was recently chosen to head the International Medical Spa Association Caribbean Chapter, will present on 'Caribbean Health Tourism Pros and Con'.

Lola Chin-Sang, founder and managing director of Vision & Power, has been appointed
