THE JAMAICA
Tourist Board (JTB) announces the appointment of Elizabeth Fox
as regional director for the United Kingdom/Europe, who will be
based at its London office. The appointment is effective immediately.
Reporting directly
to Tourism Director Paul Pennicook, Ms. Fox's role will entail directing
and overseeing the promotion of Jamaica's tourism industry in the
U.K. and Europe in collaboration with advertising and public relations
agencies to ensure optimum visitor arrivals and an increase in annual
market share from the region.
Ms. Fox's career
in tourism sales and marketing spans over 19 years and cuts across
at least two continents. She specialises in hotel brand strategy;
integrated marketing and hospitality related to corporate image
building. She has developed and implemented communications strategies,
advertising campaigns, direct marketing initiatives, promotions
and customer service programmes on behalf of a wide range of organisations
including: Boca Raton Resort and Club (Florida); Palm Beach County
Convention and Visitors' Bureau (Florida); Old Course and Golf Club,
St. Andrew's (Scotland); Universal Studios (Florida) and Hello Florida!
(Florida).
REPUTATION
OF SUCCESS
While working
at Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau, her remit entailed
attracting visitors from the U.K. and Europe. During her tenure
at Florida's largest destination management company, Hello Florida!,
Ms. Fox successfully established its international division to sell
its services to meeting planners and incentive buyers in the U.K.
and Europe, as well as working closely with major wholesale and
retail operators in the same region.
Commenting on
the appointment, Paul Pennicook, director of tourism, at the JTB,
said, "We are delighted to welcome Ms. Fox to our team. Her
appointment comes at a significant time for the JTB as it approaches
its 50th anniversary, and is strengthening its efforts on growing
our business out of the U.K. and Europe. Her expertise is ideal
and will also help spearhead our reinforced focus on growing the
MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events) market with
the goal of positioning Jamaica as the preferred Caribbean destination
for planners in the U.K. and Europe."
