Clarke is new Hedo II manager

LORNA CLARKE

LORNA CLARKE, who has been the executive assistant manager at Grand Lido Negril for the past two years, has made another step up the SuperClubs ladder, to hotel manager of Hedonism II, Negril.

Mrs. Clarke, who has given more than 16 years to the hotel and tourism industry, made her debut at 'Footprints in the Sand' as a 'jack of all trades', filling positions in reservations and front desk ma nagement.

She juggled responsibilities at that resort for two years and then decided the time had come for a change. In 1991, she joined the staff at Grand Lido Negril as a night auditor, with responsibilities for reviewing front office procedures.

Mrs. Clarke's potential, however, would not allow her to remain at that level and in 1993 her responsibilities were extended to front office supervisor. An upgrade to front office manager came about two years later in 1995.

TEAM LEADER

In the six years that followed Mrs. Clarke honed her skills as a bona fide leader and people-person, while taking charge of the entire front office team. As the saying goes 'success is dependent on effort,' her efforts paid off again in 2001 when she was promoted to executive assistant manager.

In her new role as hotel manager, the Rusea's High School past student plans on improving the services at Hedonism II, starting from the simplest service issues. Not known to waste time, she has already started work on a hotline procedure programme in which guest complaints can be attended to in the shortest possible time.

At this point in her career, Mrs. Clarke is sitting pretty comfortably; her sights are placed on upward mobility. Her ambition is to gain a master's degree in hotel management. Already she holds a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Hocking College, Ohio, and did studies in marketing and sales at Cornell University, New York.

Despite her steadfast rise up the ladder, she finds time to fill her 'other' shoes of wife and mother of four. A devout Baptist, she has been a member of the Grange Hill Baptist Church since 1992.
