IN AUGUST 1996 a young energetic and enthusiastic Sherwin Brown joined the staff of Foote Prints on the Sands Hotel. He was told by the receptionist that it was a small property and the only available vacancy was for a groundsman.

Not deterred this determined young man took the job and told her that he would start there with the intention of getting a promotion and moving up. He applied himself faithfully, taking care that the grounds were manicured. In the meantime he attended classes in the evening in order to qualify for any promotion.
