Beaches Sandy Bay lauds team members

Seventeen very elated team members at Beaches Sandy Bay Beach Resort
were recently honoured for their dedicated service and professionalism
at the resort's Quarterly Team Member Awards ceremony. The awardees
topped the categories of most consistent, smile and courtesy and
team member of the month for January to May 2006.
Held in the Dresdell Munroe Conference room at the Negril-based
property, the function also saw 11 other team members being recognised
for successfully completing a six-week training programme in the
housekeeping and food and beverage departments. This training course
was developed by former general manager Mr. Cummings and was aimed
at providing individuals within the community with certain necessary
hospitality skills.

The trainees in the F and B department learned basic skills like
table setting, cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and the proper
way of carving and decorating while those in housekeeping were trained
to effectively clean rooms and public areas.
While there is no guarantee of employment, the programme, which
began in late May, will allow those who have gained a pass, the
opportunity to be first in line to get available positions in the
property.
In addition, the 40-minute function also honoured income auditor
Marva Scarlett who was voted the most environmentally aware team
member of the quarter and Errol Reid of the maintenance department
who was voted the supervisor of the quarter.
