Half Moon's room attendants finish housekeeping course
Half Moon hotel, in collaboration with the Granville HEART TRUST,
recently graduated 17 persons sponsored by the resort who completed
the HEART Trust/NTA NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) level-one
programme in housekeeping.
This inaugural batch of participants underwent three months of
training in the areas of communicating on the telephone, responding
to guest-related complaints and requests and dealing with emergency
situations, among others.
certified self-checkers
The graduates are now certified self-checkers, which will aid the
resort's efforts to quickly turn around arriving rooms for their
valued customers.
Betty Ann Brown, Half Moon's training manager, said, "We believe
wholeheartedly in the personal and professional development of our
employees. Once we provide our employees with training opportunities,
we continue to raise the bar of excellence in all that we do at
Half Moon and in the wider community."
Two additional groups of 18 candidates, drawn from the Royal Villas
and the hotel, are expected to undergo training over the next six
months, with the second batch starting in May.
This year, the Half Moon training team will implement sessions
that prepare staff to anticipate global trends and certify employees
to meet these trends, through partnerships with Heart Trust/NTA
Granville and the Tourism Product Development Company Limited.
scholarships awarded
Additionally, Half Moon has awarded 10 scholarships to its employees
for work study certification programmes through the American Hotel
and Motel Association and the Caribcert Programme.
Arming employees with information and skills necessary to compete
in a global environment forms the backdrop of the resort's training
programme.
