RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT International (RDI) Jamaica has introduced
a distance learning master's programme in hospitality management
with the prestigious and world reknowned Sheffield Hallam University
in the United Kingdom.
The revolutionary course, which started earlier this month, offers
interest-free financing to hospitality students and workers in the
industry and is one of the first of its kind in the island.
LEARN IN JAMAICA
Alaine Reid, RDI's country director said Jamaicans enrolling in
the course would not be required to travel to the U.K., but will
now have an opportunity to earn this top British qualification while
maintaining their contribution towards organisational development
in Jamaica."
He said his company would provide on-going administrative support
and counselling to ensure that students succeed. Upon completion
students will receive the exact award that an on-campus student
would receive in the U.K. Assessment is ongoing and students will
be required to submit regular course work along with a final dissertation.
The next intake of students will commence in October 2006 and January
and April 2007.
Mr. Reid has described Sheffield Hallam as one of Britain's most
progressive and innovative universities, with more than 28,000 students,
over 3,000 staff and a turnover exceeding 320 million.
"We work in close partnership with professional bodies and
organisations in the hospitality sector to ensure our courses meet
the needs of employers. Whatever your ambition, you will find studying
with Sheffield Hallam a stimulating and memorable experience, and
the foundation of a successful and rewarding career."
