Breezes Runaway Bay expands

Janet Silvera, Hospitality Jamaica Coordinator

SUPERCLUBS' BREEZES Runaway Bay is to be refurbished to the tune of US$20 million (J$13 billion). The resort will close from August 15 to December 15 for this major expansion exercise.

CONTRIBUTED - Sprawling 22-acre SuperClubs Breezes Runaway Bay resort's major renovation included landscaping to its main lawn, and other areas.

When the resort reopens next winter tourist season it will be the most exciting property in Jamaica and the finest hotel in Runaway Bay, says SuperClubs' vice president of marketing Zein Nackash.

SuperClubs purchased the property two years ago after managing it for several years and said the upgrade was overdue, "But we were only able to move forward, once we acquired the real estate," stated Mrs. Nackash.

Effective immediately the resort will not be accepting any new reservations for travel during the period. All guests currently booked at Breezes Runaway Bay will be accommodated at Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa at their current rate based on availability.

ROOM RESERVATIONS

Any reservation in the pool view or ocean view suites will be protected in the Royal Garden view suite. Reservations in all other categories will be protected in Royal Garden view rooms. All protected rooms will be based on availability.

The expansion brings the number of restaurants to five; swimming pools to three; suites with private plunge pools to 40; and guest rooms and suites to 266.

Among the new features: On the western beach of the 155-acre property, a new, low-rise room block will be built with 30 oceanfront rooms and suites, including six one-bedroom suites and eight verandah suites with private plunge pools. In addition, in the eastern courtyard, 30 garden view rooms will be expanded and transformed into 30 verandah suites, also boasting private plunge pools.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

SuperClubs will add two of its signature restaurants, serving Japanese and Jamaican cuisine, two freshwater swimming pools will complement Breezes' main pool, while one pool will be located in front of the new oceanfront room block, with a second slated to be built along the eastern beach, accompanied by a swim-up bar and a misting pool.

Other improvements will include two wedding gazebos, two new meeting rooms, and a revamped full-service spa, which will be re-branded as part of a new signature line of Bamboo Spas at SuperClubs Resorts. In addition, the lobby area will receive a makeover with skylights and a new layout, alongside a new piano bar.

Located on Jamaica's north coast Breezes Runaway Bay now boasts 234 rooms.
