Janet Silvera' Hospitality Jamaica Coordinator
The island's newest resort, the 734-room Bahía Principé,
which will welcome its first group of guests during the third week
of December, has awarded a $20 million contract to Jamaica's Therapedic
Caribbean.
Therapedic has been contracted to supply their revolutionary 'Dream
Suite' Pillow-top sleep system, pillows and polyurethane foam, for
phase one of their three-phased project, says Aswad Morgan, group
marketing director of the company.

"We are quite proud that we were awarded this very sizeable
contract. An organisation the size of The Piñero Group with
big supply chain relationships, having developed many large scale
hotels all over the world, has selected our company in this global
marketplace that is fiercely competitive. We had to come good,"
boasted Mr. Morgan.
Commending Bahía Principé for their commitment to
buying Jamaican, he said when he first met with personnel from the
hotel, they expressed interest in quality products of the highest
standards, "nothing less, they were obviously quite impressed
with our products and pricing and awarded us the contract."
deliveries
He noted that his company had completed the deliveries within the
timeframe given by Piñero, without any hitches or problems.
Recognising the importance of selflessness, Mr. Morgan told Hospitality
Jamaica that years ago, Therapedic Caribbean made a decision that
its standard of work would represent quality manufacturers in the
country.
Formed in 1984, Therapedic through a licensing agreement with Therapedic
International, boast the reputation of being among the top five
largest bedding manufacturers in the world. For about 22 years,
Therapedic Caribbean has been producing sleep systems of the highest
quality and international standards to various sectors including
hotels, furniture retail stores, hospitals and other institutions.

Since it started supplying the local bedding market, its primary
focus has been on the furniture retail stores and the hotel industry.
The beds are manufactured at the company's 40,000 square-foot factory
at Naggo Head, Portmore in St. Catherine.
quilting machine
The company said it recently invested in a Tack 'n' Jump quilting
machine which is considered the most modern machine in its class
used to quilt non-continuous patterns that cannot be matched by
any of its competitors locally. The machine allows them to quilt
very thick layers of comforting materials for mattresses.
Noting that most bedding manufacturers shy away from such a major
investment and opt to outsource by importing quilted fabric, Therapedic
Caribbean said it has chosen not to do so and now boasts three ultra-modern,
high-tech quilting machines. "This guarantees us a very high
level of output and flexibility to serve the growing needs of our
customers and the bedding market," said the marketing director.
He said their greatest pride is quality and innovation. "We
are the only producers of fully adjustable massage beds, the new
NASA space-aged visco-elastic memory foam sleep systems. We also
incorporate our patented, award winning, Triple Edge spring support
system in a number of our product lines."
Therapedic has supplied a number of Jamaican hotels, including
RIU-Tropical Bay, SuperClubs, Royal Decameron, Jamaica Pegasus,
Hilton Kingston, Half Moon Sunset Jamaica Grande and a number of
medium to small hotels islandwide.
Therapedic is a member of the Morgans Group which comprises Morgans
Industries, Polyflex Foam Limited. Jumbolon Jamaica Limited - all
manufacturing companies involved in supplying both local and export
markets in the USA, Caribbean and South America. The Morgans Group
was founded in 1974 by Kenneth and Joycelin Morgan and currently
employs some 120 workers.
