Old meets new at Morgan's Harbour

Point of Interest

THE MINUTE you drive in, you know something's different. You notice that the parking area is completely redone to accommodate more patrons. Then, as you amble along, already in full view of the old cannon standing guard, with a façade preserving the historic appeal in the way that only fine red brick can, you enter the reception area.

It is warmer, larger, and more accommodating, with the classic portrait of Sir Henry Morgan, placed prominently behind the front desk.

Morgan's Harbour Hotel and Marina is the newest proposition in Kingston's range of preferred venues.

If juxtaposing the old with the new holds an irresistible appeal for you, you need no further invitation. The completely redesigned Quartermaine Restaurant beckons the palate in tones of warm yellow walls, with fine dining under old world chandeliers. The bar continues to draw pirates and wenches alike, with the following reminder, "Nothing empties a pirate's pocket faster than wenches and wine." (It's been there for years with no objection).

Well-appointed rooms with memorable Georgian taste are ready and waiting.

"We're aggressively targeting the European market. The ambience and the location have proven to be a haven for European excursionists and we intend to continue that tradition," says the property's Sales and Marketing Manager, Jacqueline Williams.

CONTRIBUTED: The setting sun creates a wonderful ambience by the Red Jack Restaurant at Morgan's Harbour Hotel and Marina.

GAMING LOUNGE

If you happen to have a penchant for gaming in its varied forms of roulette, Royal Ascot horse racing and the familiar slot machines, you'll be more than happy with Pirates' Gold, the newly opened gaming lounge, privately tucked away at the eastern end of the property. Patrons 18 years and over are welcome seven days a week, from noon until the last patron leaves. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages are served as a matter of course.

Leisure boats are moored comfortably along the marina's boardwalk and one's vessel need not do anything but enjoy being well taken care of.

A sojourn by the sea and on the bay at Morgan's Harbour in the historic Port Royal will excite the palate, lift the spirits, and invigorate the senses.
