Another 'high five' for Ja's south coast!
THE ANNUAL Rebel Salute festival has produced a one-of-a
kind magazine which promotes Tru-Juice Rebel Salute, and also acts
as a tourist guide, highlighting Jamaica's South Coast as a tourist
destination.
The first edition of the magazine, published by Flames Production,
features the attractions of Black River, Alligator Pond and Treasure
Beach, as well as, information on accommodations, restaurants, and
a shopping guide.
There are exciting interviews with Tony Rebel and Rising Star,
Noddy Virtue, cooking with Junior Kelly, special features on reggae
ambassadors, Burning Spear, Third World and Inner Circle and a two
page colourful lay-out on fashions by Jamaica's own fashion designers,
Mutabaruka and Jackie 'Amba' Cohen- Mutamba.
REQUESTS
The magazine is a glossy 28-page print featuring the legendary
Burning Spear on its cover.
According to Tony Rebel, Editor-in-Chief, the magazine was born
out of the many requests of patrons both local and overseas to the
show. "They have always been asking me where to stay and what
to do in St. Elizabeth." He believes the magazine will make
a significant contribution to reggae music and Jamaica's vibrant
tourist industry.
HUGE STEP FORWARD
Jason Henzell, proprietor of Jake's in St. Elizabeth, and who also
sits on the board of Jamaica Tourist Board sees the magazine as
a huge step forward in the promotion of the South Coast.
"We have always needed something like this where people can
see that the South Coast has a lot to offer."
The Jamaica Tourist Board sees the magazine as a new idea which
has already taken root and destined to grow into permanence. The
JTB states that it is proud to be associated with the Rebel Salute
South Coast Guide. In particular they laud Patrick 'Tony Rebel'
Barrett, for his efforts in conceptualizing the product which highlights
the variety of attractions that may be found on the South Coast.
The JTB feels that the guide will have a positive impact on tourist
prospect for the beautiful South Coast prospects that will
redound to the benefit of the entire island.
