Catch the Spirit
AS OF November 10 low-cost carrier Spirit Airline will offer non-stop
service between Kingston and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. And by the
start of the winter tourist season in December, the service will
be extended to Montego Bay.
Spirit will be offering connecting service to both Jamaican destinations
from Atlantic City, Chicago/O'Hare, Detroit, NY/LA Guardia, Providence/Boston
Area and Washington, D.C./Reagan National.
This service will support Spirit's Caribbean expansion. The airline
announced early last week that it will commence service between
Orlando, Florida and Nassau, Bahamas, starting November 10 as well.
"MBJ Airports Limited is very happy to welcome Spirit Airlines
as a new entrant carrier to Montego Bay," said Jorge Sales,
CEO of MBJ Airports Limited. "The introduction of a major low-cost
carrier into Jamaica is an exciting step for the airport and its
customers and one we have been looking forward to. Spirit Airlines
comes at a time when tourism is on the rise, new hotels are being
construc-ted and most of all, our new state-of-the-art airport terminal
opens for business in December this year."
