Placing Jamaica at the pinnacle
I extend warmest congratulations to Rain Forest Trams, on the first anniversary of the opening of the Jamaican tourist attraction, Mystic Mountain. It is a phenomenon that places Jamaica at the pinnacle of Caribbean destinations, for innovativeness, variety and numbers. After only one year of operation, this has become truly an attraction of choice for both local and foreign visitors.
I am told that the developers have endeavoured to maintain the pristine beauty of the Jamaican landscape, paying close attention to minimising the impact on the environment. It is highly commendable that they even went so far as to install elements of the attraction by helicopter so as to significantly reduce ground disturbance and eliminate the necessity of building a road to transport equipment. This level of environmental sensitivity is going to be more and more necessary in developing our tourism products, as the market is demanding it, and preservation of our natural heritage requires it.
The advent of Mystic Mountain is timely. In such a competitive arena where destinations are trying hard to maintain diversity of fun attractions and activities, Jamaica is offering exciting and innovative ways to enjoy our country's natural beauty. Your tremendous success in just one year reflects the strength and dedication of your team. I am confident that you will stay committed to the task at hand and continue to excel as you carry out your mandate and realise your vision of success.
