An accomplishment worthy of celebration

Sixty years of existence in the life of any organisation is a notable achievement and worthy of celebration. I extend heartiest congratulations to Half Moon, A RockResort on attaining this significant milestone. Few companies can boast this kind of success as the unstable economic conditions over the years have forced many of them to close their doors. Half Moon has managed to overcome the challenges and has kept its doors open, to welcome some of the world's most elite and famous people. Today, it stands proudly as one of the world's premiere resort hotels and a pinnacle of pride in Jamaica's tourism and hospitality industry.

I laud the resort on its many awards for excellence, chief among them being designated the prestigious four diamonds by the AAA for 30 consecutive years - the only Caribbean resort to claim such a feat. Additionally, Half Moon is a pacesetter in the critical area of environmental protection, earning the enviable achievement of being the first inductee into the Caribbean Hotel Association's Green Hotel Hall of Fame. These achievements are a testament to the vision, initiative, hard work and dedication of the executive, management and workers of the resort.

I am pleased at the resort's commitment to nation building, through its efforts to generate wide-scale employment, specifically targeting persons from the local communities; as well as using our own home-grown products in its array of delectable dishes. Also, as a good corporate citizen, it has extended its caring hands to marginalised and vulnerable communities, executing impactful projects and programmes that have improved the lives of many within these communities. It is my hope that the outstanding work of the Half Moon will stand as a stellar example for other companies to emulate.

Also celebrating a significant milestone, is the Half Moon's world-class 18-hole championship golf course, where many local and world-renowned golfers have teed off for 50 years. I also extend my congratulations on this occasion.

Half Moon has stood the test of time. I am confident that the resort will grow from strength to strength and continue to be that oasis in the sun that locals and visitors alike come to for luxurious comfort and service.
